About

Rachel Nurmi, also known as Nurmstyles, is an artist based in Chicago. Originally from Connecticut, she moved to the city to study photography and animation and ended up sticking around.
She started drawing as a kid, completely hooked on Pokémon and Dragon Ball, and never really stopped. These days, she creates colorful, character-driven work inspired by anime, Disney, comics, and street art, mixed with ideas pulled from travel, folklore, and whatever's currently sparking her curiosity.
She's custom painted a pair of soccer cleats for the Chicago Fire FC, had a comic published in the Saturday AM anthology magazine, and painted murals for both private spaces and local Chicago businesses. Her murals are always a mix of her own style and meaningful symbolism tied to the people and places they're made for.
She is building her own world—one character at a time.
